ADI has announced the launch of a multi-protocol industrial Ethernet switch platform

Technology Cover
Date de Parution: 2022-10-13, Analog Devices Inc.

Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) has launched ADIN2299, a multi-protocol industrial Ethernet switch platform designed to meet connectivity needs in the industrial and process automation, motion control, transportation, and energy automation sectors. A highly integrated and tested solution, the ADIN2299 includes a communication controller, dual-port 10/100 MBPS Ethernet switch, memory, physical layer (PHY), and protocol stack for star, linear, or ring topology applications. The availability of ADIN2299 hardware, software, and pre-certified industrial protocols will significantly reduce system integration and time-to-market.

In addition to the protocol stack, ADIN2299 also provides RTOS, file system, driver and TCP/IP, effectively reducing design and debugging time. The application processor can be connected to the switch platform through UART, SPI or Ethernet interfaces. ADIN2299 software can connect the application processor to the unified interface, and various industrial protocols can be used without changing the application processor software. Therefore, the relevant learning process is omitted when other agreements are included. Based on ADIN2299, customers can support multiple industrial protocols with a single field device hardware design. Another key element of ADIN2299 is network security. It has the security boot and security update functions to ensure that only the verified code is executed, reducing the possible on-site disruption caused by network attacks.

ADIN2299 evaluation kit can be used for platform evaluation and system development. At present, ADI has provided a set of mature application examples to demonstrate end-to-end, host to network and interface to controller communication. After the application development board is connected to the ADIN2299 evaluation board through UART, SPI or Ethernet interface, you can use PLC or controller simulator to evaluate protocol communication. As a result, the ADIN2299 can be quickly and comprehensively verified before being integrated into a system.
