Analog Devices 8-Bit DAC with Output Amplifiers

Technology Cover
Date de Parution: 2022-12-30, Analog Devices Inc.

The AD7224 is a precision 8-bit voltage output, digital-to-analog converter, output amplifier and dual buffered interface logic on a single chip CMOS chip. No external decoration is required to achieve the full specified performance of this part. The dual-buffer interface logic consists of two 8-bit registers -- an input register and a DAC register. Only the data in the DAC register determines the analog output of the converter. Dual buffering allows simultaneous updates in systems containing multiple AD724s.

Pin configuration

Both registers can be transparent under the control of three external lines CS, WR, and LDAC. Since both registers are transparent, the RESET row functions like a zero overlay; A useful function for system calibration cycle. All logic inputs are TTL and CMOS (5 V) horizontally compatible, and control logic is compatible with most 8-bit microprocessor speeds. When using dual power supplies, ensure the specified performance of the input reference voltage from + 2v to + 12.5V.

The unit is also specified for single-power operation with a reference voltage of +10 V. The output amplifier is capable of developing +10 V on 2 kΩ loads. The AD7224 is manufactured using a full ion implanted high-speed linearly compatible CMOS (LC2 MOS) process, which was specifically developed to integrate high-speed digital logic circuits and precision analog circuits on the same chip
