Analog Devices offers high speed, low power, 8-bit a /D converter

Technology Cover
Date de Parution: 2022-12-24, Analog Devices Inc.

The AD7823 is a high-speed, low-power, 8-bit a /D converter with operating voltages from 2.7V to 5.5V. This section contains a 4 μs successive approximation a /D converter, inherent track and hold functionality (with pseudo-differential input) and a high-speed serial interface to most microcontroller interfaces.

Schematic diagram

The AD7823 is fully specified in the temperature range -40°C to +125°C. By using a technique that samples the state of the CONVST(start of transition) signal at the end of the transition, the AD7823 can be used in automatic power down mode. When used in this mode, the AD7823 automatically powers off at the end of the transition and "wakes up" when a new transition begins. This feature significantly reduces the power consumption of components at low throughput.

Typical wiring diagram

The AD7823 can also operate in high-speed mode, in which components are powered off between transitions. In this high-speed mode, the conversion time of the AD7823 is 4µs. The maximum throughput depends on the speed of the serial interface of the microcontroller. The part is a small, 8-lead 0.3 "wide, plastic dual inline package (mini-DIP); 8-pin small profile integrated circuit (SOIC); And an 8-pin microchip package.
