Digital transformation has become an important strategy for enterprises to maintain competitiveness. In manufacturing related industries, the development of technologies such as industrial networks, artificial intelligence and big data has made enterprises realize that the interconnectivity between IT /OT can bring unprecedented efficiency and profit. However, the integration of IT/OT is a process that needs to be implemented gradually, especially in terms of information security, which requires more careful and detailed consideration.

Infineon announced a partnership with Chelpis Quantum Tech, a cryptographic technology startup, Launched the Edge-to-Cloud information security solution based on Infineon's TPM 2.0 standard hardware security chip OPTIGA™ TPM SLB 9672 and Ji 'an Quantum's software cryptography technology, enabling terminal devices from the hardware layer to the cloud application layer. The ability to distribute security functions across multiple layers.

The solution uses a Zero Trust Architecture to provide user credentials and authorization for the product, and introduces multiple security management mechanisms for firmware updates, These include Post-Quantum Cryptography, E2EE, and Secure Device Provisioning, which can block attacks on quantum computing. The solution provides protection against a variety of network threats, such as tampering of the device software platform, illegal updates of the software firmware, and foreign virus intrusion.

The newly launched security solution combines Infineon's TPM 2.0 technology in information security hardware and Chelpis Quantum Tech soft power in information security protection to solve security problems related to the manufacturing industry, such as: OT system often cannot keep up with the speed of attack evolution, so it is vulnerable to various network attacks, such as malware, ransomware, etc.

In addition, the lack of encryption in many OT systems also makes them vulnerable to risks of data breaches and unauthorized access, and the security of these systems may also be compromised by the actions of some employees who have access to OT systems. On the other hand, after the introduction of IT, how to ensure the high availability of products, keep the original functions unaffected and prevent the high cost of changes are all pain points in the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry.

Taking Infineon's OPTIGA TPM chip as the Root of Trust, Chelpis Quantum Tech  builds its information security enhancement solution. Through zero-trust architecture, it prevents unauthorized access and tampering. Secondly, through product key encryption, product certificate, product signature and other multiple protection mechanisms, it enables products to be produced. The security design of identity authentication not only ensures the integrity and authenticity of data, but also adds a layer of protection for product endpoint authentication.

This Edge-to-Cloud solution is expected to be introduced into the MS intelligent control computers of Mengli, a leading automation equipment manufacturer, and deployed in a variety of practical application scenarios, providing powerful information security protection for Mengli and its customers. Through this program, in addition to the comprehensive upgrade of security, but also let the automated equipment MS injection plastic machine has a unique ID card, can be traced and prevent equipment data tampering or theft, to achieve the safe access of the alliance intelligent equipment cloud iEC, so that products in the industry 4.0 (IIoT) era more competitive. In addition, Chi 'an Quantum's post-quantum cryptography technology can assist automated devices to resist future quantum computing attacks, and prepare for the information security protection of enterprises' digital transformation.

Tian Peihao, Greater China Manager of Infineon Technologies' Security Interconnection Systems Business Unit, said, "Digital transformation will drive enterprises to have a stronger demand for information security. As the number of connected devices in enterprises continues to increase, software and hardware all-round security solutions have become the trend. In addition, post-quantum cryptography will also become an important part of future information security solutions. "We are excited to partner with Chi 'an Quantum, combining Infineon's hardware security chips with Chelpis Quantum Tech's expertise in algorithms and post-quantum cryptography to create a secure and reliable digital transformation experience for enterprises."

"The solutions developed by Infineon and Chi On Quantum Tech address the information security challenges of remote working, cloud services and enterprise digital transformation in the post-pandemic era," said Mingyang Chi, Managing Director of Chelpis Quantum Tech. It applies not only to intelligent manufacturing, but also to industries such as the Internet of vehicles, the Internet of Things, smart cities and the financial industry, for example, to provide a secure operating basis for enterprises through data protection and encryption, "he said.
