New traction inverter power module

Technology Cover
Date de Parution: 2022-01-27, Infineon Technologies

Infineon Technologies has introduced a simple backpack with automotive performance 2B EDT2, a flexible, retractable half-bridge power module. Depending on the conditions of the inverter, the 750V device can achieve a maximum power of 50kW and 230Arms. With its featured specifications, the module is optimized for hybrid and electric vehicle inverter applications.

With the introduction of EDT2 (Electric Driven Train) technology and full vehicle certification in the kit, the company is expanding the range of applications to incorporate traction inverters. A key feature of this technology is higher efficiency at low loads. The loss of the EDT2 chip is significantly lower than what is currently on the market, and even 20% higher than the performance of the company's previous generation chip.

Another unique feature of this module is the plug-and-play approach, which simplifies module integration. Also, compared to the classic through-hole discrete packages and the HybridPACK 1, soldered pins are no longer required. Infineon's PressFIT contact technology helps reduce installation time. 3 EasyPACK 2b requires 30% less surface area than HybridPACK 1 due to package size. For this reason, they not only offer a compact, but also a cost-effective design. Fully compliant with AQG324 standard.
