The new I/ O-intensive processor targets a variety of situational awareness and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) applications that require common processing combining image processing and AI acceleration. A new 3U VPX plug-in card (PIC) designed to meet SOSA technical standards has been introduced by Concurrent Technologies.

The TR K9x/ 6SD-RCX is based on the 11th generation Intel core processor, which has four CPU cores and comes with 16GB of welded DDR4 DRAM with in-error correction code for high-performance general-purpose computing tasks. Intel Iris Xe graphics integrated into the device can be used for AI and acceleration when used by OpenCL, oneAPI, or OpenVINO applications, for a total of 96 execution units. Additional processing or I/O can be integrated into a single slot via the onboard XMC site, which means the product can easily be reconfigured to suit specific application requirements.

Through PCIe switches with opaque ports and DMA capabilities connected to XMC sites and backplane data and expansion plane connections, swAP-optimized multiprocessor solutions are available without the need for separate PCIe switches. In addition, it supports a variety of back-side connections for easy development and deployment, including Ethernet, DisplayPort, and USB. One of the benefits of SOSA alignment is that the backside I/O connection is defined on the backplane, enabling customers to easily convert technology and extend product life cycles.

"This new motherboard is an important addition to our Portfolio of Intel-based solutions; It supports more deterministic networks, features such as precise time protocols, and adds features that significantly improve AI reasoning and image processing performance. We are determined to provide our customers with multiple options to meet their needs, and this new plug-in card is the perfect next step in our embedded solution."Nigel Forrester, Director of product strategy at Concurrent Technologies said.
