Pickering Electronics has released the 100HV high voltage SIL/SIP series reed relays, which are ideal for applications such as transformers, cable testing or any other automatic test equipment where high voltages are involved but low coil power consumption is required. The rated voltage is up to 3kV and the coil resistance is more than twice that of the earlier devices

Kevin Mallett, Technical Specialist at Pickering Electronics, comments, "For example, the 100HV series reed relays are ideal for switching power supply voltages to control and isolate SCR or triterminal bi-directional SCR gates. In mixed-signal applications, the lower coil power of the new relay reduces the thermoelectric EMF voltage generated on the switch."

There are three types of dry switch, which can stand 1.5kVDC, 2kVdc or 3kVdc away. The 3kV version provides clearance between the switch and coil pins to support higher voltages. Higher voltage versions are available on request. The series features an internal MU metal screen to help stack tightly without causing problems due to magnetic interactions.

The new devices provide one or two switches in A single package and are configured in 1 Form A, 2 Form A, and 1 Form B. 5V, 12V, or 24V coils with optional internal diodes can be defined.
