     Diodes Incorporated has introduced a family of high-current Schottky rectifiers in ultra-compact chip-scale packages (CSPs). Offering the industry's highest current density in their class, meeting market demands for smaller and more powerful electronic systems. Diode SDM5U45EP3 (5A, 45V), Diode SDM4A40EP3 (4A, 40V) and Diode SDT4U40EP3 (4A, 40V)

    The rectifiers in this series were created for space-constrained applications including portable, mobile and wearable devices and IoT hardware. Each device can be used for a variety of purposes, as blocking or reverse polarity protection diodes, electrical overstress protection diodes, and free-wheeling diodes.

     The SDM5U45EP3 in the X3-TSN1616-2 package has a footprint of 2mm2, while the SDM4A40EP3 and SDT4U40EP3 in the x3-tsn1680-2 package have a footprint of 1.28mm2, enabling system designers to maximize board space in modern, highly integrated consumer products area. Due to their 0.25mm (typical) form factor, these ultra-thin CSPs shorten the thermal path, resulting in greater power dissipation, lower thermal BOM cost, and improved reliability.

     The SDT4U40EP3 is the industry's smallest 4A trench Schottky rectifier and is the first of the three to be offered in a 1608 package. It saves 90% of the PCB area than competing devices. Its current density of 800A/cm2 is also the highest trench Schottky in the industry, due to its innovative patent-pending cathode design and manufacturing process. The resulting ultra-low forward voltage performance (0.47V typical) minimizes power losses and enables the design of more efficient systems. In addition, its superior avalanche capability makes it adequate for harsh operating conditions including transient voltages.
